Ingredients

Apple Fries
  • 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
Coating
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Cooking spray
Serving
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F / 190°C for about 3 minutes.
  2. Remove the apple cores and cut the apples into fry-shaped wedges about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Set up three bowls: place flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and mix panko breadcrumbs with half of the cinnamon and sugar in the third.
  4. Coat each apple wedge in flour, then dip it into the eggs and finish by covering it with the panko mixture.
Cooking
  1. Arrange the coated apple wedges in a single layer in the air fryer basket and lightly coat them with cooking spray.
  2. Air fry the apple fries for 8–10 minutes, turning them halfway through cooking, until the coating is crisp and browned.
  3. Add the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture over the apple fries and serve immediately with caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt if desired.

Notes

Use firm apples and prepare the apple fries in batches if needed to help maintain a crisp coating.
