Ingredients
  

Marinade
  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
Stir Fry
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Serving
  • Steamed jasmine rice or white rice, for serving
  • Sliced green onions, for serving
  • Sesame seeds, for serving
  • Chili flakes, optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Place the sliced beef in a bowl with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Toss until coated and allow the beef to marinate for 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Warm 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until browned and almost fully cooked, then transfer the beef out of the skillet.
  3. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon vegetable oil to the skillet and cook the sliced onions until softened and lightly caramelized.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and ginger with the onions and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Return the beef to the skillet and toss everything together until the beef, onions, garlic, and ginger are evenly combined and heated through.
  6. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
Serving
  1. Serve the beef and onion stir fry hot over steamed rice and finish with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and optional chili flakes.

Notes

Slice the beef thinly against the grain to help create a more tender stir-fry texture.
