Ingredients
  

Meatloaf
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Topping
  • Additional ketchup for topping

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F / 175°C and lightly grease a loaf pan or baking dish.
  2. Add the ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, ketchup, eggs, cheddar cheese, bacon, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to a large bowl.
  3. Mix the ingredients gently until the mixture is evenly combined without overworking the beef.
  4. Place the mixture into the prepared pan and shape it into a loaf.
  5. Cover the top of the meatloaf evenly with the additional ketchup.
Baking
  1. Bake the meatloaf for about 1 hour, checking that the internal temperature reaches 160°F / 71°C.
  2. Allow the meatloaf to rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Cook bacon until crisp before mixing it into the meatloaf for the best texture.
