Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare baking sheets with parchment paper if using.
  2. Beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract together in a large bowl until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the eggs individually, ensuring each one is incorporated before adding the next.
  4. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Add the dry mixture gradually to the butter mixture and stir until just combined, then mix in the chocolate chips.
  6. Place rounded spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets with space between each cookie.
Baking
  1. Bake for 9–11 minutes, until the cookie edges are browned and the centers are still slightly soft.
  2. Leave the cookies on the baking sheet for several minutes, then move them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For thicker cookies, refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
