Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F / 175°C and lightly grease a baking dish or loaf pan.
- Place ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, eggs, milk, 1/4 cup ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl.
- Gently mix the ingredients until the mixture is combined, avoiding excessive mixing.
- Move the mixture into the prepared pan and shape it into an even loaf.
Topping
- Combine 1/2 cup ketchup and brown sugar in a small bowl and stir until smooth.
- Cover the top of the shaped meatloaf evenly with the ketchup glaze.
Baking
- Bake the meatloaf for about 1 hour, until the center reaches an internal temperature of 160°F / 70°C.
- Allow the meatloaf to rest for several minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Use a meat thermometer to check the center of the loaf and avoid overmixing the beef mixture to help maintain a softer texture.
