Ingredients
  

Meatloaf
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper, as needed
Ketchup Glaze Topping
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F / 175°C and lightly grease a baking dish or loaf pan.
  2. Place ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, eggs, milk, 1/4 cup ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl.
  3. Gently mix the ingredients until the mixture is combined, avoiding excessive mixing.
  4. Move the mixture into the prepared pan and shape it into an even loaf.
Topping
  1. Combine 1/2 cup ketchup and brown sugar in a small bowl and stir until smooth.
  2. Cover the top of the shaped meatloaf evenly with the ketchup glaze.
Baking
  1. Bake the meatloaf for about 1 hour, until the center reaches an internal temperature of 160°F / 70°C.
  2. Allow the meatloaf to rest for several minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use a meat thermometer to check the center of the loaf and avoid overmixing the beef mixture to help maintain a softer texture.
