Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 packet French onion soup mix
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
topping
  • Extra shredded Swiss cheese for topping (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F / 175°C.
  2. Lightly beat the egg in a large bowl, then combine it with the ground beef, breadcrumbs, French onion soup mix, Swiss cheese, milk, salt, and pepper.
  3. Gently mix the ingredients until evenly incorporated, taking care not to overwork the mixture.
  4. Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a baking dish or loaf pan.
Baking
  1. Add extra shredded Swiss cheese over the top of the meatloaf if desired.
  2. Bake for about 1 hour, until the internal temperature reaches 160°F / 71°C.
  3. Allow the meatloaf to rest for several minutes before slicing.
  4. Slice and serve warm with desired side dishes.

Notes

Allowing the meatloaf to rest before slicing helps it maintain its shape and remain moist.
