Preparation
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels, then season both sides with salt and black pepper.
Cooking
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt the unsalted butter.
- Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant, keeping it from browning.
- Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the skillet and cook for 4–5 minutes until the bottom is golden and crisp.
- Turn the salmon carefully and cook for another 4–5 minutes until the fish flakes easily and reaches 145°F / 63°C internally.
- Baste the salmon repeatedly with the garlic butter from the skillet as it cooks to help keep the fillets moist.
Resting
- Remove the salmon from the heat and allow it to rest for 2–3 minutes before serving.
Serving
- Serve the garlic butter salmon with lemon wedges and chopped fresh parsley, if using.
Notes
Dry the salmon before cooking to help achieve a better golden crust.
