Ingredients

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp cracked black pepper
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Pat the shrimp completely dry with paper towels before cooking.
Cooking
  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat until it becomes foamy.
  2. Add the minced garlic and optional red pepper flakes to the butter and cook for about 60 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Raise the heat slightly and arrange the shrimp in the skillet in a single layer.
  4. Cook the shrimp undisturbed for 2 to 3 minutes until lightly browned on the bottom.
  5. Turn the shrimp over and cook for about 2 more minutes until pink and opaque.
  6. Add the lemon juice, sea salt, and black pepper, stirring to coat the shrimp in the garlic butter sauce.
  7. Take the skillet off the heat and finish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

Dry the shrimp thoroughly before cooking to help them sear rather than steam.
