  • 1 small carrot, shredded or finely diced

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
Garnish and Serving
  • Chili flakes or hot sauce, optional
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Cook the spaghetti in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente, following the package directions.
  2. Drain the pasta and lightly coat it with a small amount of oil to help prevent sticking.
Cooking
  1. Warm 2 tablespoons olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, then cook the onion, bell pepper, and carrot for 4-5 minutes until softened.
  2. Add the sliced hot dogs or smoked sausage to the skillet and cook until the edges are lightly browned.
  3. Stir the tomato sauce into the skillet with the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Simmer the sauce mixture for several minutes until it becomes slightly thicker.
  5. Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss until the noodles are fully coated with sauce.
  6. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed, then serve hot with fresh parsley and optional hot sauce or chili flakes.

Notes

Cook the spaghetti until it is al dente so it keeps its texture after it is mixed with the sauce.
