Ingredients

Chicken
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
Honey Butter Glaze
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
Optional Garnishes and Serving
  • Fresh parsley, for optional garnish
  • Lemon wedges, for optional serving
  • Red pepper flakes, for optional garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry and season both sides with the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Let stand for 10 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Warm the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Cook the chicken breasts for 5 to 7 minutes per side, until golden and the centers register 165°F (74°C). Transfer the chicken to a plate.
  3. Lower the heat to medium and melt the butter in the same skillet, scraping up the browned bits from the bottom.
  4. Whisk the honey and soy sauce into the butter. Maintain a gentle simmer for 2 minutes, until the glaze becomes glossy and slightly thick.
  5. Place the chicken breasts back in the skillet and spoon the honey butter glaze over them repeatedly until evenly coated.
  6. Take the skillet off the heat and allow the chicken to rest in the glaze for 2 to 3 minutes.
Serving
  1. Serve with parsley, lemon wedges, or red pepper flakes, if desired.

Notes

Simmer the glaze gently, as honey can burn quickly when exposed to high heat.
