Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F / 175°C and prepare baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a bowl, then set the dry mixture aside.
- Beat the softened butter with the granulated sugar for 2–3 minutes until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs individually, mixing after each addition, then blend in the vanilla extract and red food coloring until the dough mixture is evenly colored.
- Add the dry ingredients gradually and mix just until incorporated, avoiding overmixing.
- Cover the cookie dough and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Baking
- Shape the chilled dough into small balls and roll each one thoroughly in powdered sugar.
- Arrange the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheets and bake for 10–12 minutes until the cookies develop a crinkled surface with slightly soft centers.
- Allow the cookies to cool for several minutes before serving.
Notes
Chill the dough before baking and apply a generous powdered sugar coating to help achieve a more pronounced crinkle effect.
